Final Project Idea

The Final Project idea that I am actually interested in is building a website. I want the website’s theme to be poetry but I also want to add other video’s that I believe deal with ChasingGreatness. For example I want to have short videos about musicians and Play directors and anyone who is doing anything that I feel is positive. The site will be mainly poetry but other facets of art will be introduced with the website. I want the website to be intractable in a way that people can view each others work and add on to the content of the website. For example, I would want up coming poets the chance to upload videos on the website so that other viewers can see and rate the performance or art work.

The videos that I will do will be a mixture of short poetic films and just poets reciting there poems.

For example:

This would be an example of a poet reciting a poem

This would be an example of a Short Poetic Film

Projects

1) This was one of the first projects I have done outside of school using a Canon t2i. I can say that this project is what actually made me want to pursue a job in video production. The reason why this project is one of my favorites is because this was something I did on my own, this wasn’t a project for class. I felt like doing a video after I was done with CT101 and that’s what I did. It wasn’t perfect but many people loved the video and I was able to get my hands on a DSLR to do it.

2) This video goes down as one of my favorites and the reason why is because this was the first video I did with my own equipment. I had recently bought my own camera with the money I got form working at Toy”R”Us. I saved up for months and once I reached my goal amount I had put all my money in that one thing. So this video is like a badge of commitment.

3) I feel as if this video is actually one of the best I’ve made thus far. I like this video because not only did i take time to edit it but i also had my friend mix the audio. It was one of my first collaboration project where I had someone other than me editing a piece of one project. The people that I did this video for were very pleased and had no idea that it would turn out the way it did.

Lupe Fiasco

The person I wish to follow in terms of success is Lupe Fiasco. I know that lupe fiasco may be a rapper but it’s the way he got to where he is now that I really respect. I searched the internet for his bio and a lot of the description that were given seemed to eb false. The reason why I know this is because I’ve watched a lot of youtube interviews of lupe fiasco and what he said in the youtube videos were not at all on the interviews I’ve seen on some of the websites I’ve been on. I intend to talk about all that lupe has done to show you why I intend to follow his footsteps. Lupe fiasco start rapping at the age of 13 as he got older he began to create a rap group by the name of 1st and 15th also know as FNF. The reason for that name he said was because on the first of every month everyone in his neighborhood would get their welfare checks. Lupe Grew up in the west side ofChicago. As lupe started to get a popular fan base through all the songs he was making he wanted to keep the group name and build his own record label. He had an opportunity to sign with Jay-z but he turned that down because he jay-z did not want to sign a partnership with lupe’s group label First and Fifteenth. Lupe fiasco did not care about how much money he was getting, lupe had a dream of creating his own record label and he stuck with that dream. Lupe Fiasco eventually came across atlantic records who allowed the partner ship to happen. Ever since then he’s been up and coming in the rap world. Lupe fiasco has always been more then a rapper, he is also a philanthropist and a humanitarian. You will always see him doing something to help make this world a better place. Just last year he climb mout Kilimanjaro inTanzania in an effort to bring awareness to the global water crisis. I respect lupe fiasco a lot because to me he is more than just a rapper, he’s a human being. He’s love for music is just as big as his love for humanity. Although my focus is videography I wish to incorporate humanitarianism, philanthropy, spirituality, and love in all that I do. When lupe fiasco talks about his love for God and His love for people and how he wants to save the youth, it gives me the confidence to do the same thing and even more. He has his own record label and I want my own Production Company, he has his own clothing line and I wish to have one as well. He may be part of the music industry and it may be a bit different from video entertainment but our goals are similar. He stayed true to himself, never forgot who he was and never back down from anyone. Those are qualities i wish to use in building my own production company.

The Future of Philippe – Five Year Biography

Michael Parkinson

24, Interview with Philippe Matthew Chery

Philippe Matthew Chery is the Founder/ CEO of The Production company ChaseGreatness. He was born in Brooklyn, The Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in Brownsville. Born with a religious background, Philippe spent most of his time in church and with family. He was a Seventh Day Adventist but went to catholic schools as a child. He spent a lot of time switching schools because his mother was very strict about having her children get the best education but at a price that she could afford. His mother was also very strict at her son learning an instrument, so as child coming up he spent a lot of the time on the piano keys learning classical music and gospel.  Both parents were in his life but they were very hard working and couldn’t really be there as much as they wanted too. He spent most of his time with his Grandmother and cousins during the days his parents would work overtime and pick him up after their shift was over. As Philippe got older he started falling in love with sports, mainly basketball. He had dreams of playing in the NBA and one of his favorite players was Tracy Mcgrady. His dreams of basketball ended short when he got cut from his High School basketball team for the second time. Feeling depressed and unwanted Philippe started watching videos of Muhammad Ali. Those videos inspired him to get into the life of Boxing. He worked really hard and built a connection with his boxing coach, but his dreams of boxing ended when the gym closed down due to finical inefficiency, He boxed for 3 years. Not knowing which direction to go towards he stayed in school and kept his connection with God. The closer he put himself to God, the closer he got to his destiny. He started having ideas and visions of ChaseGreatness and what he wanted it to represent. From that day on he’s been building himself, building his brand and following God’s word.

I spent a whole day with Philippe Matthew Chery and in this article i will talk about my experiences with him that day.

About a 45 minute drive from where he once lived, I find  Philippe Matthew Chery outside of his apartment on his way to a meeting. He greets me with respect and I tell him that I will spend the day with him asking him about ChaseGreatness and what he did to get to this point.

 Michael Parkinson

Philippe, Tell me about yourself? who do you see yourself as?

Philippe Matthew Chery

Well, I see myself as a very spiritual person. One who’s very inspirational and confident in what he can do. One who stands by what he believes in and has a love for the presence of the Holy Spirit and just wants to get closer to God.

Michael Parkinson –

Wow, very interesting.. I see that a lot of the videos and ideas you have are not very bias to just religion or Just God…why is that?

Philippe Matthew Chery

Although I’m a strong believer in Christ and God I still appreciate the other things that are of this world like Poetry, Music, Art, sports, fashion, photography and film. I’m a very creative person and I just love art and all the things I named can fit as a facet of art. So you’ll see some rap or some poetry in some of my works.

Michael Parkinson-

What motivated you to create ChaseGreatness?

Philippe Matthew Chery –

My experiences is what motivated me to create this brand, this company. I felt a need to do great things so I just kept learning on my own even after I was finished with college. I wanted to do things my way just as Muhammad Ali.

Michael Parkinson-

Do you see Ali as an icon?

Philippe Matthew Chery-

Yes, you can say that but he’s just one of the people that I really look up too. There’s Ali, Malcom X, Jesus , Daniel in the bible, Joseph in the bible and even Buddha. The company is really picky on who they work with and what type of product they produce.

Michael Parkinson-

Can I ask you a question?

Philippe Matthew Chery-

Sure!

Michael Parkinson-

What is ChaseGreatness? Can you explain it in words?

Philippe Matthew Chery-

Yes i can, Chasegreatness is a freelance production company. In that company we do Wedding Photography, video, design, promotion, Films, Music videos, we produce events like open mics, poetry shows, concerts, and mission work. We always try to give back to the world.

Michael Parkinson-

Wow, that’s alot of production work

Philippe Matthew Chery

The company is really picky on who they work with and what type of product they produce.

Michael Parkinson

Why is that?

Philippe Matthew Chery-

Because the company promotes creativity and originality. We stress positivity and knowledge with our video projects and doing a video that’s the opposite of what we promote lessens our original value. It’s not about money for us, it’s about originality, creativity and being about what we say we are about.

Michael Parkinson

it was nice talking to you Philippe and I wish you great success.

Philippe Matthew Chery

Thank you so much Mr. Parkinson …
